The Chevrolet Corvette C8 (Revell Shop Link) marks a turning point in the history of this iconic American sports car. As the eighth generation of the Corvette series, it breaks with many traditions and simultaneously sets new standards in terms of performance and design. The heart of this revolution is undoubtedly the mid-engine, which distinguishes the C8 from all its predecessors. And Revell now offers this fantastic vehicle exclusively as a New Tool in 1:25.

With a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering an impressive 482 hp, the C8 catapults from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. This performance, paired with a top speed of 296 km/h, makes the C8 a serious competitor to established European supercars.

The Technical Special Features of the Corvette C8

This is the first production Corvette with a mid-engine, which dramatically improves weight distribution and thus handling.
For the first time in Corvette history, a dual-clutch transmission is used, enabling lightning-fast gear changes.

With a starting price of under $60,000 in the USA, the C8 offers supercar performance at a fraction of the price of many competitors.

The C8 features a digital cockpit, a modern infotainment system, and numerous driver assistance systems and is available as both a coupé and a convertible, offering a surprisingly large trunk despite its sports car configuration.

A Bit of Corvette History

The history of the Corvette dates back to 1953, when the first generation (C1) was introduced. Since then, the Corvette has established itself as “America’s Sports Car” and has become a symbol of American engineering and performance. Interestingly, the idea of a mid-engine Corvette was not new. Already in the 1960s, the then chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov had dreamed of a mid-engine Corvette. However, it took more than half a century for this dream to become reality with the C8.
The development of the C8 was surrounded by great secrecy. GM engineers even used disguised bodywork of other vehicles to test the new mid-engine architecture without attracting attention.

A fascinating detail is that the C8 is the first Corvette to be produced from the factory as a right-hand drive vehicle. This underscores GM’s ambitions to make the Corvette a global sports car.

In our Revell Model Kit News on YouTube, our colleague Luke from the UK also assumes that the steering wheel on the right side is the right side 🙂

The Highlights of the Corvette C8 Model Kit in 1:25

For model builders, the Corvette C8 offers a range of exciting features to assemble. Starting with the aggressive line design, the distinctive air intakes of the C8, and the jet-like interior.
From 144 individual parts, beginners in model building at Level 3 can complete a magnificent model with dimensions 18.6 by 8.6 by 5.1 cm. By the way, the Corvette C8 was derived from original GM CAD data, and our product design team was able to develop the engine details along a exposed unit of a crashed vehicle to which it had exclusive access.
